I HAVE COMPLETELY LOST my marbles...and I don’t even care. Roman could not get enough of the beauty in his arms. She had been so upset, so repentant as she stammered her confession, apologizing for something that wasn’t even her fault. He was her bodyguard, and he should have been there. He should have protected her. The scum that was her ex had no idea who he was messing with, but Roman was ready to show him. He’d been trying to let the guy have the chance to walk away, but that was gone now.

I don’t care what it takes, he’s done. Absolutely done.

Roman bit back a moan as Rose slid a hand into his hair, playing with the short strands, adding another level of sensation to their kissing. However, he held in the sounds. He was already playing with fire and giving in even further would put him over a line he wasn’t prepared to cross. Nor was he prepared to ask Rose to cross it either. She deserved more than that.

Forcing himself to slow things down, Roman brought Rose back to her feet and tucked her under his chin in order to keep her mouth from his. He was panting and trembling from their encounter, but there was nothing he would regret about it. Those few minutes had been the most intense and wonderful moments of his life thus far.

“That was...amazing,” Rose murmured, snuggling in like a kitten. She was practically purring with contentment, and Roman found himself struggling not to puff up like a proud rooster.

He cleared his throat before speaking. “It was, but I...I probably shouldn’t have attacked you like that.”

Rose jerked back and pinned him with a glare. “If you dare apologize for that, I will slap you, Roman Lanley, and never speak to you again.”

Okay...an angry kitten. It’s almost as cute as the content one. One side of his mouth quirked up and he saw her demeanor soften. Putting his forehead to hers, he whispered, “How I can apologize for something that magnificent? I just think I should have been a little more...suave about it.”

Rose smiled and shook with silent chuckles. “What it lacked in suaveness, it totally made up for in awesomeness.”

His brow furrowed. “Suaveness? Awesomeness?” Roman gave her a look as she continued to laugh at him. “Please just tell me it’s a good thing.”

Rose brought her cheek back to his chest and sighed. “It’s totally a good thing.”

He kissed the top of her head. “I’ll take your word for it. Come on.” Roman led her to the couch and sat down, tucking Rose under his arm. Once they were settled, he took one of her hands and began playing with her fingers. They were so small compared to his, so soft and delicate, and he loved that about her. “As much as I don’t plan to apologize for that kiss, we really shouldn’t be doing this.”

Rose stiffened and tried to pull away from him, but Roman held tight.

“Hold on, now. I should think it would be obvious that I’m doing this whether I should be or not.
